Foaling season has begun!
We are delighted to welcome our two latest additions to the pony clan here at Rokewood -
with the safe arrivals of a bay Welsh B Filly by Weston Park Mercury out of Thorwood Miss Charlotte, born on 04/08/08
[to be retained as a future child bride for In Concert]
The Boys at Boot camp...
We've taken the opportunity over Winter '08, to get Riyadh and Lemon started under saddle.
Both coped exceptionally well with the experience and Lemon has taken on his new role as saddle pony with great enthusiasm - Riyadh has had a spell to concentrate on stud duties, but will hopefully be back in work soon.
Another Thorwood baby moves to Rokewood...
Lemon's baby sister Thorwood Barley Sugar (Silkwood Puss n Boots x Amaranda Sunray)
has arrived at Rokewood, and somewhat taken over!
Being from a Welsh B Dam line, she's taller, finer and more elegant then her older half brother,
however very much a girl version of him, with the same "bold as brass" personality.
Sugar is an absolute delight to have around and we are looking forward to getting her out & about this coming season... Many thanks to Amanda Hewitt of Thorwood Stud for allowing us to add her to our "Thorwood Collection".
Lemon's new job...
Lemon has recently commenced work, with Jodie Young as her new show hunter/sports/dressage pony,
and has settled into his new role with his usual cheerful enthusiasm and excellent results.
We're really proud of the partnership these two have formed in such a short space of time and would like to wish
Jodie and Lemon continued success... with much fun to be had along the way.
Jodie & Lemon -
stepping out at their first ever outing under saddle.
Congratulations...
To Pam Morris of Avondale Arabians on the safe arrival of a lovely, leggy bay Riyadh filly,
Avondale Yasmina [pending] from the beautiful Monteego Bay mare Avondale Montaya.
We are very proud to welcome her into the "Riyadh Family"
and sincerely hope she is everything you had ordered.

More foaling congratulations...
To Kay Dawson of Ballanbrae Stud, on the safe [not to mention eagerly anticipated] arrival
of a big, bay Anglo Riyadh colt, from her lovely thoroughbred mare Wonky's Revenge.
Kay has been a staunch supporter of our stallions for a number of years and has had wonderful success with her beautiful Anglo Arabian Shatoor babies in the show ring - we sincerely hope your new boy continues the family tradition Kay.
Well done Alison & Violet!
Congratulations to Alison Smith and Rokewood Violet, on your recent success at Canberra's National Capitol Show.

Introducing our first In Concert foal...
Introducing Rokewood Morpheus - born 26/12/2008, one day after his sire's birthday.
From the lovely black Riding Pony mare Myscal Liberty (Westhill Standing Ovation imp UK X Myscal Robyn)
a bay/brown colt, very much in the image of his father, but with more of his Dam's size and substance.
We are absolutely thrilled with this little fellow... he is very much all we had hoped for with this mating,
with his wonderful type, overall quality and self assured presence, he was already turning heads at just a week or two old!
Expressions of interest are invited from the best of show homes - for more information, go to our sales page.
Bravo Jodie and Lemon!
Jodie and Lemon attended the Victorian All Welsh show at Tatura... Jodie reports:
"Just thought I'd give you a run down of how Lemon went at his first ever VAW.
Well... he was an absolute legend.... I had a ball with him and he even won a few hearts and admirers.
First class up on Friday evening was his working hunter and it was in the indoor. He was rather scared, as they had watered parts of the arena and he thought the wet ground was going to eat him. The course was only tiny and there had been heaps of problems - he had 2 refusals at the 3rd fence and then jumped the rest of course really well. He looked at most fences but tried his little heart out, I was sooooo proud of him as this was only his fourth ever time jumping -
His workout outside was good as well and he scored 38 out of 50.
On Saturday he had his part welsh classes. He came 2nd in his lead and was 7th in the ridden, but he was against much more seasoned campaigned horses and his workout was very cute - the work he is giving me is getting better all the time.
Sunday morning he had his led show hunter - He got called in 4th but after his workout moved up to 2nd.
The part welsh judge said he was a lovely moving pony.
So that's how your wonderful Lemon pony went. I absolutely adore this pony and I'm having a ball with him.
Thanks for letting me lease him I do love him dearly."
Well done Jodie... you and Lemon make a wonderful team.
We're so pleased you're having such fun with him, and so very proud of the pair of you.
It would appear there's indeed "no rest for the wicked", with Jodie and Lemon spending the winter months
doing great things in HRCAV Dressage and combined training... and with his EFA registration pending, we look forward to this combinations first official competition in the near future... Way to go Team Lemon!
Music has moved to Rokewood
We're excited to announce the addition of the delightful Welsh B mare Weston Park Music to our pony broodmare band.
Music is a mare we have coveted for some time now, largely due to her charming personality, but also as she consistently produces truly divine foals - none more so that the exquisite filly Marconi Figurine [pictured below].
Music has been bred back to Weston Park Mercury for '09 - therefore carrying a full sibling to Figurine.
we cannot thank you enough for giving us the opportunity to make Music our own.
and a bay Welsh B colt by Tooravale Picasso out of Richdale Tiger Lily, born on 08/08/08
[a date we'll be sure to remember!]
This little fellow is available for sale - for details go to our sales page.
Heartfelt thanks to Briony Payne, for the wonderful job done with Lemon...
And also to Rob Goodwin of Windsor Farm for the excellent start he has given Riyadh...
We can't recommend these two incredibly talented riders highly enough!

In Concert's return to the ring...
Ascot In Concert arrived at Rokewood literally days before the Equine Influenza outbreaks and subsequent lockdowns,
which spelled the end of the entire 2007 show season and thus, shelving any immediate show plans for him.
He has however made a successful debut with us for this season, with his first show appearance recently at Dandenong, bringing home 1st placed Arabian Riding pony Stallion and Reserve Champion Arabian Riding Pony Exhibit and
another 1st place in the Part Welsh Stallion and champion Part Welsh Exhibit.
At the Gold Medal Event he came home with class wins and Reserve Champion Arabian Riding Pony in both sections.
Our deepest gratitude to dear friend John Steele, for assisting with his [very last minute] preparations
and for presenting him in the ring for us... we wouldn't have done it without you.
